Form a committee
Reach out to your neighbours and let them know that you are putting together a committee to work on this project.
It doesn’t have to be anything too elaborate, all you need is a few people to contribute and help distribute the newsletter. Having a small committee makes the process easier and keeps your community directly involved.
Get in touch with your neighbours by setting up a WhatsApp, Facebook or email group and asking them all to join. Call into cocooners and seniors who may not be online and let them know about the project and how they can get involved.
Bring your newsletter to life
Once you have formed your committee, schedule a remote meeting via video app or organise a socially distanced meet-up to get the ball rolling on ideas for what the newsletter should include. Columns like neighbourhood news, upcoming events and gardening tips are a great place to start . Have fun with it!
Assign different articles and roles to everyone, and make sure you choose someone to design the finished newsletter. Once these elements are in place, your newsletter will be up and running in no time.
Set a deadline
Choose the date that you would like to see the newsletter go out to your community, and decide how many copies you would like to print. This gives you a very clear and tangible deadline to work towards.
