Rooted in our belief that small moments of connection can lead to profound change, this strategy sets out how we will continue building happy, healthy and resilient communities across Ireland. At a time when loneliness, housing pressures, migration and climate change are reshaping everyday life, our mission to spark neighbourhood connection has never been more relevant.

Ireland is changing rapidly. We are building more homes than ever before. Our population is becoming increasingly diverse. Loneliness is recognised as a growing public health issue. Climate and biodiversity challenges demand local action.

We believe strong neighbourhoods are part of the solution.

When neighbours know each other, they feel safer. When people feel they belong, they are more likely to participate, volunteer and lead. When communities are connected, they are more resilient in the face of social, economic and environmental change.

This strategy positions Neighbourhood Network as a national leader in strengthening the social fabric of communities. It ensures that alongside bricks and mortar, we invest in the social scaffolding that makes neighbourhoods thrive.

Our Strategic Priorities (2026–2030)

Over the next five years, we will:

Facilitate social connection in new and existing neighbourhoods.
Through programmes like Street Feast, Home Together, Our Shared Plate and Our Fabric, we will support over 1,200 gatherings annually and deepen partnerships with councils, housing bodies and developers.

Empower a national network of Neighbourhood Connectors.
We will equip community-builders in every county with tools, training and peer-learning opportunities — ensuring neighbours themselves lead lasting change.

Advocate for the value of neighbourhood connection.
We will strengthen our research, storytelling and policy engagement so that social cohesion becomes a national priority — embedded in planning, health and community development.

Build a sustainable, resilient organisation.
We will secure long-term funding, strengthen governance, invest in our team and grow as a trusted national voice for connected communities
